2020 INTERNATIONAL SPORTS ACTIVITIES AT WUT
WUT SPORTS MEETING ACTIVITIES
On the 23/10/2020, WUT Sports Meeting was held and in a very conducive atmosphere at the famous Nanhu Stadium. The event was blessed with the presence of high ranking WUT leaders, special guest and all the schools including the School of international students. The event started successfully and ended at about 10am which marked the beginning of the sport activities.

For the first time this year the International students were given the opportunity to participate together with the Chinese students in the athletic competitions. The international students was given different slots to participate in and some international students gladly responded to the call and volunteered to represent the School of International Education in the competition. These slots (including the timetable) and the international students that participated are shown below:
During the Competition, The International students showed will and passion to compete and win as they were cheered on by other international students who went and showed their support for their fellow students.

Among those who went to the Nanhu stadium to show their support was Miss Nicole from the ISO and ICEA Members who played a crucial role in helping and supporting the students participating throughout the competition.
The international students managed to secure medals for themselves and for the School of international students .These results were as follows:
· 1st Position Prize
- Discus which was won by BERNARD RUPERT CYRUS
· 6th Position Prize
- 1500m which was won by FILMON GHEBRETINSAE ANDOM
In the end of the competitions, Miss Nicole as a representative of the ISO and the SG of ICEA Obame thanked all the students who took part in the competition and also gave congratulations to the students who manage to win different prizes during the competition.
The participants also show their gratitude to the ISO for the opportunity to participate in these athletic competitions and also went on to thank all the ICEA members for their great support throughout the competition.
WUT SPORTS TOURNAMENT
On the 7/11/2020 marked the beginning of the WUT Sports Tournament which is a tournament specifically for international students as organized by the WUT-ISO (Wuhan University of Technology-International Student Office) and ICEA (International Cultural Exchange Association).
The sports tournament was held to completion in 2 weeks during the weekends that is Saturday and Sunday. It featured a variety of games which included; Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Chess and Badminton for fun.
The organization prior to the start of the tournament included the registration of students and the development of the timetable for the tournament. The registration of students who wanted to participate was done for the different sports that they wanted to participate in thus where put in different teams and a timetable was made as evaluated and done by the ICEA Activity Department with the help of captains and other volunteering students. The picture below shows the teams and timetable for the WUT Sports Tournament:
The WUT sports tournament launched on Nov 7, the games taking place according to the timetable. The following is the narration of all the games from beginning to completion:
BASKETBALL

Basketball games kicked off with the teams facing each other according to their pre-arranged time table.
1st WEEK:
On Day 1 (Nov 7/2020)
· Team A Vs Team B; Team B was victorious in this game
On Day 2 (Nov8/2020)
· Team A Vs Team B; Team A was victorious in this game

2nd WEEK:
On Day 3, FINALS (Nov 14/2020)
· Team A Vs Team B;
After a very intense and hard fought game, Team A was victorious after winning by narrow margin and were named CHAMPIONS of the Basketball games.

VOLLEYBALL

Volleyball games kicked off with each team facing the other teams according to their pre-arranged time table.
1st WEEK:
On Day 1 (Nov 7/2020)
· Team A Vs Team B; Team A was victorious in this game by winning 2 sets
· Team C Vs Team D; Team C was victorious in this game by winning 2 sets
On Day 2 (Nov 8/2020)
· Team A Vs Team C; Team A was victorious in this game by winning 2 sets
· Team B Vs Team D; Team D was victorious in this game by winning 2 sets
2nd WEEK:
On Day 3 (Nov 14/2020)
· Team A Vs Team B; Team A was victorious in this game by winning 2 sets
· Team C Vs Team D; Team C was victorious in this game by winning 2 sets

On Day 4, the FINALS (Nov15/2020)
· Team B Vs Team D (THIRD Place), Team D was victorious and secured the Third place position.
· Team A Vs Team C;
After a very intense and hard fought game, Team C was victorious after winning 3sets out of the 5 sets played and were named CHAMPIONS of the Volleyball games leaving Team A to take the SECOND Position.

CHESS

1st WEEK:

2nd WEEK:
On Day 3 (Nov 14/2020)
· Round 5 and Round 6
FINALS
· NATE Vs MONTY (THIRD Place), MONTY was victorious and secured the Third place position.
· CARLOS Vs APHRO; CARLOS was victorious and was named CHAMPION for the Chess games leaving APHRO to take the SECOND Position.

FOOTBALL

Football games kicked off with each team facing the other teams according to their pre-arranged time table;
1st WEEK:
On Day 1 (Nov 7/2020)
· Team B Vs Team C; Team B was victorious in this game by winning with the Score : 3-2
· Team A Vs Team C ; Team A was victorious in this game by winning with the Score : 4-1
On Day 2 (Nov 8/2020)
After Team C unfortunately lost both of the games, it didn’t have the required points to continue and automatically held the Third position.
Due to this factor, the two remaining teams that is Team A and Team B were also automatically in the Finals as was agreed by the Football games organizers and the Teams involved.

2nd WEEK:
On Day 4, the FINALS (Nov 15/2020)
· Team C (THIRD Place), Team C secured the Third place position.
· Team A Vs Team B;
After a very intense and hard fought game, Team A was victorious after a Penalty shootout was done and were named CHAMPIONS for the Football games leaving Team B to take the SECOND Position.

THE AWARD CEREMONY
The Award Ceremony for the WUT Sports Tournament was held on the last week and the last day of the tournament that is 15/Nov/2020. In this day, The WUT-ISO staffs also joined the students from start to finish, watching the finals and also went on to award the different prizes to the different winners and champions of the WUT Sports tournament for each game that was conducted as shown in the pictures below:

In general, the WUT Sports tournament was a big success mostly because of the great willingness of the students to participate in the tournament and also the incomparable devotion and commitment of the organizers that is WUT-ISO, ICEA Team and all the Volunteers making this Tournament one to Remember.

In the end, Miss Nicole as a representative of the WUT-ISO together with the SG of ICEA Mr.Obame thanked all the ICEA team, Volunteers and Students (including all the fans and players) for their crucial role and participation throughout the tournament and also gave congratulations to the students and Teams who manage to win different prizes during the tournament. The Students also showed their gratitude to the WUT-ISO, ICEA Team and the Volunteers for the WUT Sports Tournament marking it one of their memorable experiences this year.
