Ⅰ. Eligibility

1. Applicants should be healthy and well-behaved, and have a foreign citizenship. Applicants for Master’s degree programs should have an undergraduate study background equivalent to that of the Chinese Bachelor’s degree.

2. Applicants should have good academic records, and provide the following documents (including but not limited to):

2.1Transcripts from highest degree education institution (original and notarized copy in English or Chinese version).

2.2 Personal statement and a brief research plan.

2.3 Two recommendation letters from scholars who have title of associate professor or higher.

2.4 Applicants who have studied in China should provide the Discipline Record from Previous school or university.

2.5 Provisional Acceptance Letter by WUT Academic Supervisors, which can be downloaded from

3. Chinese Language Requirements

3.1 HSK (level IV or above) certificate is required for applicants who would like to study in the programs taught in Chinese.

3.2 For applicants who haven’t reached the required Chinese language level, they can apply to study Chinese language at Wuhan University of Technology in the first place and apply for the major study after obtaining HSK (level IV or above) certificate.

4. English Language Requirements

For non-native English speakers who apply for English-taught programs, they should provide a score report of English Proficiency test (TOEFL 80+/ IELTS 6.0+/ TOEFL My Best/ TOEFL iBT Home Edition/ TOEFL Essentials, and etc.). For applicants who cannot offer the above-mentioned standardized English test results, they will be required to participate in an additional oral or written English test organized by Wuhan University of Technology.

5. Study Requirements for Ethnic Chinese

According to the NO.12 (2020) Announcement of the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China, applicants who have foreign nationality at birth but both or one of their parents are Chinese citizens who settled in a foreign country, as well as residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan who have obtained foreign nationality after immigrating should hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive), and have a record of actual residence in a foreign country for more than 2 years within the most recent 4 years (by April 30 of the enrollment year) (The actual residence in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be calculated as one year, subject to entry and exit signatures).

Applicants are also required to provide birth certificate and previous expired passports.

Ⅱ. Application Procedures

1. Application

Please log in to the online application system at Wuhan University of Technology International Students Service Systemwithin the application period at http://admission.whut.edu.cn. Please complete the Wuhan University of TechnologyApplication Form for Foreign Scholars and Students correctly and completely, and upload the supporting documents and pay the application fee as required.

1.1 Application Documents

  Front pages of passport and visa page issued by Chinese embassies (if there are any)

  Diploma of bachelor education (and translation in Chinese or English)

  Academic transcripts (and translation in Chinese or English)

  HSK certificate or score report of HSK (Chinese medium programs only)

  Bank statement of the applicant or financial sponsor (Supplementary as required )

  Score report of English language test, e.g. TOEFL/IELTS/others (Chinese medium programs only)

  Certificate of non-criminal record

  Descriptions of school performance (for applicants who have learning experiences in China)

  Receipt of application fee 500 RMB or 80$

  Valid physical examination report

Note: Applicants are required to submit the scan copies of original documents, and translations in Chinese or English will also be required. Hard copies of documents are needed for verification upon registration. If there are any counterfeit about application materials, the admission will be considered invalid.

  Fill in the required information to complete the application form and upload the documents as required.

  Submit the application during the application period.

2. Comprehensive Evaluation

2.1 Documents Review

Applicants should submit all information and documents accurately and completely before the deadline for the evaluation of Wuhan Universityof Technology. Otherwise, the application will not be considered.

2.2 Examination Interview

Applicants who pass the application document review will be admitted to the interview. The interview time and method will be informed in advance. Outstanding applicants recognized by Wuhan University of Technology will have the interview waived and get an offer directly.

3.Visa Application

Admitted applicants must bring their passport, Admission Letter, Visa Application Form (JW202/201), Physical Examination Record Form as well as Blood Test Record to the local Chinese Embassy/Consulate or other official missions authorized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in China to apply for a student visa (X1/X2 visa).

Notice: If admitted applicants hold other types of visa rather than student visa (X1/X2 visa), they will not be registered at Wuhan University of Technology.

Ⅳ. Duration, Degree & Diploma

The duration of study for Master's degree programs at Wuhan University of Technology is three years. The programs are delivered in Chinese and some of them can be taught in English which include Applied Economics, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Technology. Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Management Science and Technology, Architecture, Physics, Mathematics, and International Law. A master's degree and graduation certificate will be awarded to students who have met the related requirements of degree conferment.

1. Application Period

1.2 Application Period for Chinese Government Scholarship Applicants

Application time is usually from early December this year to March 31st next year.

2. Admission Period

Based on overall evaluation of the document and interview of the applicants, Wuhan University of Technology will contact the applicant for admission materials by email. Please check the admission result at the website http://admission.whut.edu.cn/

3. Registration Period

Registration period usually starts in early September. Please check the admission notice for the specific registration time for new students.

During registration at Wuhan University of Technology, the admitted students should bring their ordinary passport (diplomatic passport and service passport will not be accepted), Admission Notice, Visa Application Form (JW202/JW201) and student visa. Original or notarized diploma or transcripts of your previous study period in English or Chinese should also be provided for rechecking during the official registration. Any counterfeit about application materials shall result in cancellation of registration.
