International Forum on New Concept of Contemporary Asian Design Education Held in WUT

　　From June 9th to 11th, WUT School of Art and Design hosted the International Forum on New Concept of Contemporary Asian Design Education at the university Conference Center. The forum focuses on Asia and encompasses the globe, aiming at  blending ideas, integrating resources, planning for the future, and building a platform with Chinese-style academic competitiveness and social influence for design education.

　　WUT vice president Kang Canhua, President Hasumi Takash of Sapporo City University in Japan and Professor Zheng Yiche of Seoul National University in Korea delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. More than 50 experts and scholars from home and abroad and more than 300 WUT faculty and students attended the forum.

　　Fifteen keynote speeches were international, academic and realistic. Eexperts and scholars exchanged ideas on the design education under the oriental philosophy, the new knowledge system for cultivating designers under the mode of the Asian industry economy, the design value and design standards under the Asian philosophy of life, and the construction of the resource-sharing platform in Asian design education, etc.

　　The forum has played an active role in promoting the development of discipline construction and expanding social influence in WUT and in promoting the establishment of design educational system with oriental culture characteristic using new ideas, new patterns and new methods.
